Mica Names Transportation Subcommittee Chairs

Ranking Member Rahall names Democratic ranking members

The roster of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee for the 112th Congress is now complete as Chairman John Mica, R-Fla., on Thursday named subcommittee chairs, and Rep. Nick Rahall, D-W.V., ranking member, named the Democratic ranking members.

The subcommittee chairmen are Rep. Thomas E. Petri, R-Wis., Aviation; Rep. Frank LoBiondo, R-N.J., Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation; Jeff Denham, R-Calif., Economic Development, Public Buildings and Emergency Management; Rep. John J. Duncan, R-Tenn., Highways and Transit; Bill Shuster, R-Pa., Railroads, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials; and Bob Gibbs, R-Ohio, Water Resources and Environment.

Subcommittee ranking members will be Rep. Jerry Costello, D-Ill., Aviation; Rep. Rick Larsen, D-Wash., Coast Guard and Maritime; Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton, Economic Development; Rep. Peter DeFazio, D-Ore., Highways; Rep. Corinne Brown, D-Fla., Railroads; and Rep. Timothy Bishop, D-N.Y., Water Resources.

All told, there will be 22 Democrats, all veterans of the committee, joining 32 Republicans to make up the downsized committee. The committee had 74 members in the last Congress.

In addition to the subcommittees’ senior Democrats, Jerrold Nadler, N.Y.; Bob Filner, Calif.; Eddie Bernice Johnson, Texas; Elijah E. Cummings, Md.; Leonard Boswell, Iowa; Tim Holden, Pa.; Michael E. Capuano, Mass.; Michael H. Michaud, Maine; Russ Carnahan, Mo.; Grace Napolitano, Calif.; Daniel Lipinski, Ill.; Mazie Hirono, Hawaii; Jason Altmire, Pa.; Timothy J. Walz. Minn.; Heath Shuler, N.C.; Steve Cohen, Tenn.; Laura A. Richardson, Calif.; Albio Sires, N.J.; and Donna F. Edwards, Md., will serve on the committee.
