Globe Express Adds Descartes ISF “10+2” Solution

JOC Staff |
LONG BEACH, California — March 2, 2010 — Annual Trans-Pacific Maritime Conference -Descartes Systems Group, a federated global network logistics solutions provider, announced that Globe Express Services, a mid-market supply chain logistics specialist, has extended the use of Descartes’ solutions to prepare for the upcoming United States Customs and Border Protection's (CBP) Importer Security Filing (ISF) “10+2” mandate.

On January 26, 2010, CBP’s ISF “10+2” rule went into effect. Under this rule, importers are required to provide CBP with additional data elements 24 hours prior to lading for all ocean shipments inbound to the United States. This security measure is often referred to as 10+2 because the regulation requires the collection of 10 new data elements from importers or their agents and 2 message sets from the ocean carriers. The goal is to have these data elements submitted 24 hours prior to vessel departure and the two new message sets from ocean carriers within 48 hours of vessel departure.

Globe Express has been a long-time user of Descartes’ Regulatory Compliance services, including Automated Manifest (AMS) and Automated Brokerage Interface (ABI) services, and now has extended its customs compliance solution to include the Descartes ISF “10+2” service. For carriers, freight forwarders, non-vessel operating common carriers (NVOCCs), and shippers, Descartes’ Regulatory Compliance services, including AMS, ABI, ACI, ACE, Tariff Compliance and ISF services, offer a comprehensive, single-source solution to help firms comply with governmental regulations.

“Descartes was a natural partner to help us comply with the latest customs filing regulation. By being ready and tested in advance, Globe Express is able to offer this as an enhanced service to our customers as part of our supply chain solution suite,” said Jack LaVee, Director of Operations at Globe Express. “Descartes is a leader in global customs filings and we can count on them to help us meet compliance requirements, allowing us to focus on our core business of serving our customers.”

The beauty of our compliance service is that we are able to provide additional services with minimal interruption and change in process for our customer’s internal personnel, said Eric Bossdorf, Vice President of the Global Logistics Network at Descartes. We can provide rapid access while leveraging the customer’s existing data or processes, and have them up and running quickly.”

Descartes AMS, ABI and Descartes ISF “10+2” services are part of the Descartes Global Logistics Network™ (GLN), which enables the world’s leading transportation providers to connect to their trading partners and reliably exchange information to drive delivery performance and high levels of customer satisfaction.
