Few shippers see prices going up substantially this year, and some say the rates won’t change until at least April, when the new carrier alliances take effect.

The dramatic descent of spot prices to five-year lows in both directions on the trans-Atlantic shipping route has sparked questions about how low the price can go, and if the once sleepy, stable route has changed.
Lower economic activity and high inventories have sent spot market truckload rates tumbling even lower than they fell in 2015, and are not expected to disappear any time soon.
