Environmental Issues and Compliance in the United States to be Seminar Topic at bi-annual Posidonia Shipping Conference and Exhibition

May 15, 2012 — Navigating the complexities of environmental issues and compliance in the United States is the focus of a seminar being offered by NAMEPA (North American Marine Environment Protection Association) during the bi-annual Posidonia Shipping Conference and Exhibition being held June 4-8. The seminar will be held on June 7th from 1030hrs-1230hrs in the Posidonia Seminar room at the Metropolitan Expo Centre.

“Posidonia offers the ideal opportunity to gather shipping professionals to discuss challenges in our industry”, stated Carleen Lyden-Kluss, NAMEPA Co-Founder and Executive Director. “Environmental compliance is critical to the successful operation of shipping companies. The rigorous enforcement in the United States requires a thorough understanding of the regulations and their application in the US.”

Speakers for the seminar include Ted Petrone, President, Navios Corporation; Jeanne Grasso, Partner at Blank Rome LLP; Captain Jack Kenyon, Commanding Officer of Activities Europe, United States Coast Guard; Vayia Hatziyianni, Technical Services, Overseas Shipholding Group; and a representative from Tsakos Energy Navigation.
