Eighty percent of logistics providers and freight forwarders reported slight business expansion in the last two years, and more than 75 percent expect that growth to continue into 2013, according to a study by logistics researcher Transport Intelligence and logistics software developer Kewill that surveyed 484 international businesses.
Logistics providers in Europe demonstrated the lowest growth rates because of the euro crisis, but providers in North America and Latin America experienced the highest levels of growth.
Most respondents intend to pursue growth organically. However, more than 30 percent of forwarders and third-party logistics providers envision growth by merger or acquisition in 2013.
