The average cost of diesel in the U.S. rose 1.4 percent, or 5.6 cents, in the week ending Oct. 15.
For a larger chart, click on the image.The average cost per gallon, $4.150, is up 34.9 cents from the same period a year ago, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Prices rose across the country, with a particularly steep increase in the Midwest, where the cost of diesel rose 11.0 cents to $4.150 per gallon. The highest prices were seen on the West Coast, at $4.346 per gallon, and in particular in California, at an average of $4.437 per gallon. The average price is above the $4 mark in all regions.
