The 2012 U.S. corn crop is high quality and improves upon last year’s good marks across a range of test factors, despite the worst drought in decades this year, according to the U.S. Grains Council’s Corn Harvest Quality Report 2012/13.

This year’s corn crop showed year-over-year improvements in average text weight, protein levels and density; and also displayed lower moisture and “broken corn and foreign material.”

“The samples tested demonstrate that this year’s U.S. corn crop, while smaller due to the drought, is of outstanding quality overall,” said Erick Erickson, USGC director of global strategies.
