Kerry Logistics opened the first phase of a logistics center in Danang in central Vietnam. Along with units in Ho Chi Minh City in the south and Hanoi in the north, the facility helps provide full coverage for the whole country.
Still under construction during the first phase of operations, the facility will provide approximately 9,000 square meters of space when completed in the second half of 2010.
"We have been operating in Vietnam as a wholly-owned foreign company since 2006 and we have a comprehensive network of distribution centers and integrated logistics facilities in the major commercial centers throughout the country,” said Robert Tan, Kerry’s managing director, South Asia.
“Vietnam has a vibrant economy and there is strong growth in international trade. Consumer demand for imported products is also growing and our investment in a nationwide distribution network will support this growth. From a regional point of view Danang will support our growth across Southeast Asia,” Tan said.
The center not only strengthens Kerry’s position in Vietnam but also fits in with the Kerry Asia Road Transport network, which connects Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. KART also connects Vietnam to several destinations in China through its Kunming transport hub.
