The unemployment rate in the 17 countries of the euro area remained flat in August for the second consecutive month, at 11.4 percent, the Eurostat reports. The unemployment rate in August 2011 was 10.2 percent.
The European Union’s 27 member states’ unemployment rate was 10.5 percent in August, compared with the year-earlier rate of 9.7 percent.
