Hong Kong's Exports Up 13.6 Percent in September

Flag of Hong KongHong Kong’s Census and Statistics Department today reported that the region’s volume of exports of goods in September increased 13.6 percent from September 2011, and the volume of imports increased 13.0 percent year-over-year.

Re-exports of goods in September increased 13.7 percent year-over-year, while domestic exports increased by 9.2 percent.

In the first nine months of 2012, the volume of exports of goods decreased 2.2 percent, and the volume of imports of goods fell 0.8 percent, from the volume in January to September 2011.

Comparing the third quarter of 2012 with the preceding quarter on a seasonally adjusted basis, the volume of exports of goods increased 4.3 percent, and the volume of imports of goods increased 3.8 percent.
