Double BIFA Awards win for Damco

JOC Staff |
Now in its 22nd year, the well-established BIFA Freight Service Award is recognised as one of the most prestigious events in the freight industry. The competition encourages and rewards high standards and professionalism, representing the ultimate recognition of special achievements in different sectors of the industry.

The 2010 Awards have seen Damco taking home not one, but two trophies by winning the Supply Chain Management Award and Staff Development Award.

Damco entered the Supply Chain Management Award with the 'Stock-to-Serve Optimisation' solution, which is aimed at helping Damco customers to find the right level of inventory in their supply chains and to attain greater alignment between purchasing and sales.

BIFA's judging panel comments: “Damco was the deserved winner of the Supply Chain Management Award with their 'Stock-to-Serve Optimisation' model, as they demonstrated clear and tangible benefits for their customers with the introduction of a service of innovative systems aimed to help improve the quality of information within the supply chain.”

Richard Morgan, Chief Commercial Officer of Damco UK and Ireland says: Supply Chain Development Expertise has always been a differentiator for Damco and one we use every day as a value driver for our customers in reducing their supply chain costs. It is particularly satisfying now to see these efforts recognised by BIFA and it motivates us to achieve even higher levels of supply chain innovation.”

Damco's Supply Chain Development team is thrilled with the success: “It is great indeed to see such recognition of our work on this solution over the last two years. This win provides great credibility to the work we are doing and will definitely create more opportunities for us to work even closer with our clients and to find new ways of bringing extra value to their supply chains”.

The BIFA judging panel was also impressed by Damco’s entry in the Staff Development Award: “Damco has demonstrated a very positive approach to staff development by making training available to all members of staff. The tailored individual learning plans they deliver, contribute to the service levels employees can offer by receiving the training they require to carry out their jobs effectively.”

Stuart Clarke, HR Director Damco of UK & Ireland says: “It is fantastic to have received this prestigious recognition because we are globally and locally committed to the continual development of our employees. We are a people business and it is therefore critical that we do this so that we can offer a first class service to our clients.

We appreciate that in the logistics and forwarding industry there tends to be a lack of structured development opportunities for talented people. We are therefore passionate about providing those opportunities to our employees to ensure we differentiate ourselves as an employer and service provider.”

Damco is very proud to be recognised by such an important industry body, which not only differentiates them from the competition, but enhances their profile among their customers and partners alike.
