U.S. containerized exports tumbled 9.0 percent year-over-year in February to 923,493 TEUs, the lowest monthly volume in 32 months, according to preliminary figures from PIERS, the Data Division of JOC Group. This 9.0 percent drop was also the steepest year-over-year decline since August 2009.
U.S. containerized imports of auto parts in the fourth quarter rose 1.0 percent year-over-year.

U.S. containerized import volume fell 9.2 percent month-to-month in November, according to advance figures from PIERS, a JOC sister company. Imports totaled 1.45 million 20-foot-equivalent units in November. Volume remained flat year-over-year, following seven consecutive months of increases.

The value of India’s imports fell 18.1 percent year-over-year in September 2013, according to India’s Ministry of Commerce. Import value fell to its lowest level since March 2011. The trade deficit shrank more than 60 percent from last September to $6.8 billion, which was also the country’s lowest deficit since March 2011.

U.S. cross-border traffic with Canada via truck saw increases in both directions in July, following two months of year-over-year declines in truck imports and exports, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Rail exports dropped this month, while imports continued to show growth.

Imports were up year-over-year for a 15thstraight quarter, although it was the smallest rate of increase during this period.
