Alexandria, VA – March 25, 2011 – Dan England, President/Chairman of the Board for C.R. England, Inc. and incoming Chair of the American Trucking Associations will share how he and his son, Josh England, President of England Logistics, successfully transitioned their family business and the problems that may occur when running a family business. C.R. England is the nation’s largest refrigerated truckload carrier and England Logistics is ranked 11th in Transport Topics’ list of brokers.
Annette Sandberg, former Administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), will brief TIA’s Highway Committee on how Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) is affecting carriers and brokers. Ms. Sandberg will explain how to handle a FMCSA Intervention letter, as that agency plans to mail over 28,000 such letters to carriers. Ms. Sandberg will also address pending regulatory issues, including hours of service and mandatory electronic onboard recorders.
TIA’s much anticipated “Carrier Selection Framework” will be released on April 8, 2011. The Framework was developed by its Carrier Selection Committee comprised of firms and individuals who are experts in freight broker and motor carrier operations, as well as carrier assessment and risk management. Participants in this effort included a former FMCSA Administrator; several transportation attorneys; freight broker and motor carrier insurance industry experts; and carrier compliance data reporting companies.
"We are very excited to have Dan England and Annette Sandberg at this year’s TIA meeting. We are also very excited that we will have record attendance to greet them. The TIA meeting is always the best meeting of the year for 3PLs, and this year is shaping up to be the best yet,” said Robert Voltmann, TIA’s President and Chief Executive Officer.
TIA’s Trade Show is sold out and those firms that took advantage of this opportunity will be able to offer their products and services to the best of the 3PL industry.
The Transportation Intermediaries Association’s 33rd Annual Convention and Trade Show participants will benefit from 16 educational sessions in 4 tracks, which can be mixed and matched to create a unique learning experience. Five plenary sessions on topics that affect every 3PL, two pre-conference seminars and the only trade show for brokerage-based 3PLs make this a “must attend” event. Details about the convention are available at www.tianet.org/2011.
