Crowley Awards First Thomas B. Crowley Sr. Memorial Scholarship of the Year to Florida State College at Jacksonville Student
(Jacksonville, Fla., February 24, 2012) - Crowley Maritime Corporation has awarded its latest Thomas B. Crowley Sr. Memorial Scholarship to Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) student, Al’Tonya Anderson, for her strong academic record, interest in a career focused on safety, and financial need.
Anderson received $1,500 in funds for the spring semester. She is currently in her junior year of college pursuing a bachelor’s degree in public safety management, and is an active member of her the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
“I greatly appreciate the opportunity to receive the Crowley scholarship. This is going to be such a huge help in achieving my goal,” said Anderson.
Since 1984, Crowley has provided more than half-a-million dollars in scholarship funding for more than 200 students studying at maritime academies and other select institutions in the U.S., Alaska, Puerto Rico and Central America. In 1994, Crowley Chairman, President and CEO, Tom Crowley Jr., established the Thomas B. Crowley Sr. Memorial Scholarship Program, in honor of his father, and has also donated more than $2 million over the years to support other educational programs.
