AASHTO’s Horsley speaks just after telling the Transportation Research Forum in Washington, D.C., that a House committee could unveil a $218 billion surface transport bill the week of June 20, while a Senate panel would offer a larger one soon after. He expects both to complete action on those during July.
He tells The Journal of Commerce such bills would probably focus on core highway and bridge programs, while the president and Congress would need to find other funding for broader things like an infrastructure bank or the intercity passenger rail program.
