Maersk Reorganizes Far East-Mediterranean Services

Maersk Line is reorganizing its Far East Asia-West Mediterranean service network, effective mid-February.

The changes include new port calls at Qingdao, China, and Busan, South Korea, on the AE20 Service, and suspension of the existing calls at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and La Spezia, Italy, on the AE11 Service.

The revised port coverage of the two AE services is as follows:

AE20: Qingdao, Busan, Ningbo, Shanghai, Yantian, Nansha, Tanjung Pelepas, Valencia, Malaga, Algeciras, Tangiers and Singapore, starting the westbound sailing Feb. 19 from Ningbo and eastbound, Valencia March 16.

AE11: Qingdao, Busan, Ningbo, Shanghai, Ningbo, Hong Kong, Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas, Port Said, Valencia, Barcelona, Genoa, Port Said, Salalah and Singapore, starting the westbound sailing Feb. 9 from Qingdao and eastbound, Valencia March 12.

The Danish carrier also said the AE20 will discontinue calling Qingdao and Busan, effective in early April. The last vessel to call these ports will be the Maersk Sydney, arriving at Qingdao April 5 and Busan, April 6.

“With the new improved services, we will be able to provide an even better coverage of the West Mediterranean,” Maersk said.
