Grand Alliance Upgrades Joint Trans-Atlantic Service

The Journal of Commerce Online - News Story
Will deploy four ships with 5,400 TEU capacity to replace four 3,700 TEU vessels

The Grand Alliance plans to increase the size of the vessels it deploys on the joint trans-Atlantic service it operates with Hamburg Sud and Zim Integrated Shipping Services as of March.

Grand Alliance carriers Hapag-Lloyd, NYK and OOCL said Monday they will deploy four ships with 5,400 20-foot equivalent units of capacity in place of the four 3,700 TEU ships in the current string.

As they do at present, Hamburg Sud and Zim will each provide on ships on the service and the Grand Alliance will deploy two.

The weekly fixed-day service continues to have the same port rotation: Rotterdam, Hamburg, Le Havre, Southampton, New York, Norfolk, Charleston and back to Rotterdam.
