Joint operation with Air Hong Kong upgrades to A300-600 all-cargo plane

DHL Express and Air Hong Kong are doubling air cargo freighter capacity between Manila and Hong Kong to meet growing demand from the electronics export sector.

An A300-600 widebody freighter, operated by Air Hong Kong, a joint venture between Cathay Pacific and DHL, is now deployed on the route, doubling capacity over the 727-200 freighter previously used.

DHL said demand on the five-days-weekly service was increasing “in spite of the economic slump experienced in major markets overseas.”

Overall air freight demand out of Hong Kong has been declining this year and freighter operations at Hong Kong International Airport have fallen more than 3 percent year-over-year in the six months ending Sept. 30.
