New York, NY, July 1, 2010 – The board of directors of the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) announced the election of David Brinkman, executive managing director of Aon Benfield, to chair the IICF New York Division board of directors. IICF combines the collective resources of the insurance industry to give back to our communities through grants, volunteer service, and leadership.

Prior to his election, Brinkman served on the IICF executive committee, fundraising committee, and has been the chair of the grants committee for two years. IICF Executive Director Betsy Myatt, said, “We all have great confidence in David’s leadership. We are fortunate to have someone of his calibre and dedication at the helm of our foundation as we continue our growth. This is an important time for us as we launch our first New York, tri-state Volunteer Week in October. David’s vision will position us for a strong future.”

With 26 years of experience as an intermediary, Brinkman co-leads Aon Benfield’s national origination team and oversees the delivery of Aon Benfield’s service platform to prospective clients. In addition, he also serves as the senior relationship manager for several of Aon Benfield’s clients in the Northeast and focuses on developing new business and expanding existing relationships. He joined Aon Benfield in 1999, bringing extensive industry experience from prior positions with Sedgwick Re and Willcox, Inc. Brinkman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Boston University, which he attended for three years, spending his fourth year abroad at the London School of Economics.

“I am honored to be elected to help lead this important organization,” said Brinkman. “We’ve made significant contributions to the New York, tri-state area over the past three years, but we’re just getting started.”

Brinkman succeeds Michael P. Fujii who served as chairman of the board since September 2008. Fujii established a new structure of board committees, significantly enhancing the effectiveness of the work of the IICF board. At their June meeting, members of the board of directors expressed their sincere gratitude to Fujii for his outstanding leadership of the Foundation over the past two years.

Peter Tucker, senior vice president, Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, was elected to serve as IICF vice chair, Myatt reported. “Peter has also served in leadership roles on our board committees and plays a pivotal role in the success of our benefit dinner. The funds that will be raised this at this year’s dinner on December 8 will provide significant grants throughout the tri-state area, and Peter continues to be a key to the dinner’s success.”
