U.S. Postal Service today announced it is expecting to deliver a record 365 million packages this holiday season, a 20 percent increase from 2011, driven by consumers’ growing use of online shopping.
The Postal Service projects that nearly 18 billion cards, letters and packages will be delivered between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve.
The announcement was made by Patrick Donahoe, Postmaster General and CEO, and Nagisa Manabe, chief marketing officer and executive vice president, at a holiday rush kickoff event in Washington, D.C.
The busiest delivery day for letters will be Dec. 19, and the busiest day for packages will be Dec. 20, USPS said.
