JAL's Cargo Volume Rises 5.1 Percent

Japan Airlines said its international cargo volume grew for the seventh successive month in August on a year-over-year basis, rising 5.1 percent to 19,770 tons. The year-over-year pace of increase quickened from 3 percent in July.

The volume of cargo JAL carried on its international routes in the first five months of fiscal 2012 totaled 102,091 tons, up 5.2 percent from a year earlier.

JAL’s domestic cargo volume rose for the fifth month in a row in August on a year-over-year basis, increasing 4.6 percent to 34,227 tons. The year-over-year pace of growth slowed from 5.9 percent in July.

The carrier’s domestic cargo volume in the first five months of the current fiscal year amounted to 162,243 tons, up 6.4 percent from the same period last year.
