Singapore Changi Airport recorded a 4.5 percent year-over-year contraction in cargo traffic last month despite a 4.6 percent increase in traffic movements.
The 152,900 tonnes handled in July at the world’s 11th largest airport by tonnage in 2011 was also 400 tonnes lower than a month earlier.
Volumes could receive a boost in the coming months from home carrier Singapore Airlines. After cutting back cargo capacity earlier in the year, the air cargo carrier has announced two new freighter services in the last eight weeks.
