Hong Kong Air Freight Growth Slows

Cargo traffic at Hong Kong International Airport grew 7.1 percent in November over the same month the year before amid signs that capacity was growing far ahead of demand.

The year-over-year growth rate was far behind the 15.5 percent increase the world's largest international freight airport reported in October, and overall cargo volume slipped 1.3 percent from October to November.

At the same time, freighter operations at the airport expanded 25.1 percent year-over-year in November and carriers operated 180 more all-cargo flights through Hong Kong in November than they did in October.

The slip in November came mostly in imports, which fell 7 percent on a month-to-month basis. Exports grew 7.7 percent over the same month the year before and also edged up slightly from October.
