Hainan Airlines will operate daily direct flights from Belgium to China beginning May 28.
The airline already flies four times a week from Brussels Airport to Beijing. In May, it will start operating direct flights three times a week between Brussels Airport and Shanghai Pudong International Airport.
In response to high market demand, the flights to Shanghai replace an earlier plan to add extra Beijing flights, Hainan said.
All flights will be operated with Airbus 330 aircraft.
“Belgium has strong ties with the city of Shanghai and the surrounding region. This new direct flight will facilitate new business between our countries, and will be very welcome to business people at both ends,” said Liang Pubin, general manager for Hainan in Europe.
Brussels Airport is one of the largest airports in Europe, handling well over 17 million passengers and 450,000 tons of freight annually.
