FedEx Express, lining up its global services to meet increasingly cost-conscious shipping, announced new deferred international services Monday for its small parcel and freight delivery services.
The expanded options will include FedEx International Economy service from more than 90 countries and territories and International Economy Freight service from more than 50 countries and territories.
Both are door-to-door, customs-cleared, services and FedEx said they will come with what the called competitive rates and delivery in two to five business days.
The announcement comes after FedEx reported a 27 percent decline in revenue from its International Priority service in the quarter ending May 31, including a 12 percent drop in volume from the same period a year ago.
“In today’s challenging economic environment, we understand that our customers need to keep costs down while maintaining a competitive edge in the global marketplace,” said Michael L. Ducker, president, international, FedEx Express. “Our newly-expanded economy service delivers more choices, more savings, greater coverage and a seamless shipping experience around the world.”
FedEx International Economy service was formerly available in 16 countries and territories. FedEx International Economy Freight was available in 13.
