DHL to Spend $47 Million to Expand US Hub

DHL said the $47 million expansion of its U.S. hub at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky airport will provide parcel customers with an extra 193,000-square-feet of capacity.

The package giant said the new warehouse capacity will be online by November, while improvements to existing buildings and the purchase of material handling equipment won’t be completed until March 2013. With the newest phase of expansion, which will add about 280 jobs, DHL will have spent $105 million on the hub since 2009.

"This expansion will provide the additional infrastructure and efficiency needed to handle the continued growth in international shipments that we're seeing in this region,” said DHL Express Regional CEO Stephen Fenwick.
