The drop in demand for air cargo services out of China since the start of the Chinese New Year holidays has prompted Saudia Cargo to redeploy freight capacity to Africa to meet high demand in Europe for flowers in the run-up to Valentine’s Day.
The carrier will operate four extra freighter flights from Nairobi to Amsterdam this month using a mix of MD11 and B747 freighters, in addition to its existing five weekly scheduled freighter flights on the lane.
“Kenya is the number one airfreight export country in Africa,” said Ken Mbogo, regional sales director Africa at Saudia Cargo. “The deployment of these additional flights to meet the increased demand, for a third consecutive year, shows our strong commitment to the Kenyan floricultural industry.”
