IAG Cargo Volume Fell 7.7 Percent in January

London-based International Airlines Group, the merged British Airways-Iberia carrier, reported cargo traffic of 431 million-metric-ton kilometers in January, falling 7.7 percent from 467 million-metric-ton kilometers of cargo in January 2012.

Iberia handled 83 million-metric-ton kilometers of cargo in January, plummeting 17.0 percent from the previous year. In the same month, British Airways moved 348 million-metric-ton kilometers of cargo, dropping 5.2 percent year-over-year from 367 million-metric-ton kilometers.

Cargo revenue metric ton kilometers in January decreased 1.0 percent year-over-year.

With regard to cargo, the carrier’s load factor was down 0.3 points in January, at 69.6 percent.
