The International Air Transport Association today announced successful trials of the Electronic Consignment Security Declaration, which meets regulatory demands for evidence that security measures have been applied to air cargo and mail.
The e-CSD details how, when and by whom a consignment of cargo or mail has been secured, standardizing the process and documentation of such evidence.
The trials were conducted in the UK, followed by the Netherlands, during October, after 18 months of work by IATA to develop processes for data capture.
Planning is now underway to conduct live operational shipments trials, said Des Vertannes, IATA global head of cargo, in a written statement.
