Cargo tonnage at London Heathrow Airport fell 1.5 percent in July, the airport’s third straight year-over-year, but a seasonal uptick also gave the British gateway its busiest month for freight volume since March.
Tonnage at Heathrow inched up just under 2 percent from June to July, according to airport operator BAA.
But the airport also has seen the impact of a slowing European economy, with double-digit growth earlier this spring turning abruptly negative in May.
Cargo tonnage at Heathrow, which grew 15.2 percent in 2010, was up 2.3 percent in the first seven months of 2011 over the same period a year ago.
