DHL has launched a new direct twice-weekly express flight from the U.S. to Australia.
The logistics major claims the service will boost transit times for shippers in the Americas into Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane by at least one day.
DHL said the new service was launched to meet anticipated demand growth on Canada/U.S. to Australia lanes of 20 percent year-over-year in 2012.
The flight operates into Sydney and Melbourne from DHL’s Americas hub in Cincinnati using a B747-400. This means shipments picked up on Friday in the U.S will now be delivered by Monday in all of Australia’s major cities, according to DHL.
On the return leg the flight calls at Hong Kong, boosting capacity from Asia into the U.S.
