Frank Reimen, Cargolux Airlines International president and CEO, has stepped down following his appointment to a Luxembourg government post, the carrier announced.
Europe’s biggest all-cargo carrier said it would name an interim CEO in the very near future, pending the appointment of a permanent chief executive.
Reimen will become Luxembourg’s high commissioner for national protection on Aug. 1, responsible for protecting the nation against disasters.
Reimen took over as CEO of Cargolux in January 2011 from Ulrich Ogiermann, who stood down after being indicted by the U.S. Justice Department for participating in an industrywide conspiracy to fix air freight rates.
Reimen has been involved with Cargolux since 2004 when he was appointed government adviser with responsibility for the aviation and railway sectors. He became a director of the Luxembourg-based carrier in November 2009.
