Florida-based Amerijet International announced its second acquisition in as many weeks with its purchase of a majority interest in Nations Express, a trucking company based in North Carolina. Nations operates a fleet of approximately 200 trucks offering express charter truck service.
"Nations Express represents a company doing all the right things, at the right time, and a company we believe is a unique fit with Amerijet and our global logistics services,” said John R. Nash, Amerijet’s chief financial officer.
William R. Frazier, Nations Express president and chief executive officer, said the investment by Amerijet “will provide the additional capital necessary for the company to take advantage of a number of exciting growth opportunities in the ground-freight transportation industry as well as new freight service opportunities offered by Amerijet.”
This week’s acquisition follows Amerijet's decision to lease five Boeing 767-200 cargo aircraft and its recent acquisition of SRX Transcontinental, a Florida-based company specializing in ground handling operations throughout Central Asia. SRX also owns Avialeasing Aviation Co., an Uzbekistan certificated airline.
