Amerijet International, a Fla.-based freight airline, acquired SRX Transcontinental and Avialeasing Aviation, which operate and maintain Russian Antonov aircraft in both Uzbekistan and Miami, Fla.
SRX specializes in ground handling operations throughout Central Asia. Its subsidiary Avialeasing markets the sales, charter operations, and contract maintenance of Antonov An-12 and An-26 aircraft, which carry heavy and oversized cargo.
"Amerijet believes this acquisition will complement its cargo operations and support our energy sector customers both in the Americas and worldwide. It will also support our effort toward establishing regional cargo operations throughout Central Asia, a market Amerijet believes capable of substantial growth throughout the next decade,” said David Bassett, CEO of Amerijet.
The acquisition comes as Amerijet agreed to lease and operate five 767-200 cargo aircraft in addition to its fleet of 727-200's.
