Incheon International Airport's biodegradable vinyl packages.Incheon International Airport in South Korea recently funded 50 percent of the purchasing costs of nearly 7,360 environmentally friendly biodegradable vinyl packages for ground service companies in the airport, as part of the Fourth Green Cargo Hub project.
The biodegradable vinyl packages for air cargo supplied to the operators were made by adding biodegradable materials such as corn flour to the vinyl packaging. Conventional vinyl takes more than 16 years after burial to start to decompose, but biodegradable vinyl starts to decompose after eight months, the airport said.
